The Bahamas Mission Campaign

May 30 - June 6

About the Campaign

The Bahamas Mission Campaign has been a 12 year annual event that involves many young people from the churches of Christ in the Columbia, Tennessee area. Each year, much good work is done towards the spreading of the gospel upon the Grand Bahama Island. Usually, the group is lead by Mike Greene, the pulpit minister for the Northview church of Christ in Columbia. However, KevinWhite, the youth minister at the Eastside church of Christ in Columbia, led the group this year.

The campaigners hold a gospel meeting and Vacation Bible School for the Freeport church of Christ while in the Bahamas. The gospel meeting and VBS are held at the same time. While the adults stay in the auditorium, the campaigners have a VBS for each age group in each of the classrooms. The gospel meeting and VBS start on Sunday and run through Thursday. During the day, the campaigners go out into the neighborhoods and knock doors, inviting others to the gospel meeting and VBS.

Results from this Year's Campaign

This year's campaign was a very successful trip. Some 4700 flyers about the gospel meeting and vacation Bible school were handed out in a mere 4 days. An untold amount of Bible correspondence courses were set up. Many Bible studies were held. A lady was baptized into Christ on Wednesday as a result of a Bible study with Jonathan Oliver and Sara Langley. Throughout the week, about 20 others responded stating that they wanted to know more about the church of Christ or that they needed prayers of the congregation. The attendance was 226 on Sunday morning. The nightly meeting attendance started at 170 Sunday night grew to 219 by Thursday night. There were many first time visitors at each service. Hopefully, the work will still continue throughout the year even though the campaigners have left.
